d.o.t.s Target system for ⁶⁸Ga production

The increasing demand for cyclotron produced radiometals leads to development of liquid and solid targets. The low yields of liquid targets as well as the high investment of solid targets requires different approaches.

To overcome the disadvantages the d.o.t.s target system was developed. It is an easy to install system. The used preloaded multi shot solid target holders can be exchanged in seconds and make it possible to irradiate several times at one day without using shuttle systems. The dissolution of the irradiated material is performed on the target so no additional hotcell is required. The dissolved radiometal is transferred automatically to the dedicated hotcell for further purification. Interlocks and leak tests guarantee a safe operation.

The target was designed to produce different nuclides such as ⁶⁸Ga, ⁶¹Cu, ⁶⁴Cu ⁴⁴SC or ⁸⁹Zr.
